As with many of the other types there is the option of black and white or color imagery.  There are also wireless spy cameras available for discretion in surveillance.  Many of them come with weatherproof capability to allow maximum picture quality.  It is important to note that certain models have multi-camera operational capability in the same area.  This means more detailed surveillance for you. 

Another facet of the wireless camera is the use of wireless transmitters and receivers.  Due to less wires involved, these particular models are not as expensive as their counterparts.  You might want to opt for a system with outdoor environmental housing to protect the system from the elements.  Perhaps you want real-time imagery.  No problem.  The wireless cameras are versatile in their capabilities. Are you interested in stereo audio capability, alarm input or embedded video scrambling?  This is the right model for you. 

Some of them even have the ability to transmit and receive from up to 7 miles away.  The wireless cameras are small, powerful and discreet.  These features alone would make them invaluable to many.  You have the benefit of added security and protection and the models reviewed ranged from $399 to $2,950 in price.  It stands to reason that fewer wires to deal with mean fewer risks of fire hazards and that maintenance while still required need not be quite as diligent. 

The wireless spy cameras reviewed here were both custom-built: one into a briefcase environment and the other into a handbag.  Both weighed in at a price of $2,515 and have high-resolution for either black and white or color imaging.  The entire system for both these models is concealed within the customized briefcase or handbag. There is 380 line color-resolution and 420 line black and white resolution.  In addition to having low light sensitivity they allow for up to 2 hours of recording time.
